Measuring

Making sure you measure correctly is crucial to ensure you get a nicely fitting costume.

Be sure to:

Supply all measurements in Inches.
Wear a leotard or similar when taking measurements - do not wear bulky or loose clothing.
Do not pull the measuring tape too tight, or leave it too loose. It should be comfortably snug.

BUST

Measure at the fullest part, making sure the tape measure remains level all the way round.

WAIST

Measure at the smallest point, above the belly button.

Tip: Have your dancer bend to the side and note where the body naturally creases. Tying a ribbon or elastic around the waist can also help to see where this is.

BOTTOM/HIP

Measure the fullest part of the bottom, NOT the hip bones. This is an important measurement to get a good fit, especially for leotards/tutus to ensure the costume will go over the widest part.

Tip: Take this measurement side on to your dancer so you can see where the fullest part of the bottom is.

GIRTH

This is a FULL loop from the top of the shoulder, all the way through the legs and back to the same shoulder.
